Match Report
Bishop Vesey's Grammar School Boys-U13B vs  Bablake & King Henry VIII School
On: Thursday, 12 May 2022
Venue: at Home

The U13B’s roared back from defeat against QMGS, cruising home by 6 wickets against Coventry with almost 8 overs to spare.

Lessons had clearly been learned. Having put Coventry in to bat, Vesey’s ground fielding was excellent and this, together with some accurate bowling, strangled Coventry’s batting effort and restricted them to 64-8 over 2 overs. Youssef Yanni, having been “persuaded” to play half a match before early departure, was grateful to his persuader. Having taken a stunning one-handed catch above his head at fly slip, he bowled one over (a maiden) for two wickets and swaggered off to play for his club side. Mohammed Azam Arif matched his two smart catches with two maidens. Aveer Gill bowled 2 overs for 2 runs and a wicket. The pick of the bowlers was Uzair Mulla, with 3-12 off his two overs.

Vesey wobbled a bit in response, losing two wickets for 9. But Aveer Gill (16) and James Bigge (13) steadied the ship in a partnership of 37. It fell to the Captain, Kalvin Sandhu and Azam to knock off the outstanding runs with a couple of lusty blows.

Many thanks to the Coventry staff and players, who were gracious and complimentary in defeat.
